Intro

For 16 years I worked for WBEZ on their most forward-thinking projects, learning from the best as I worked alongside them. In 2020, in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, I went independent.

Now

I host and produce podcast projects now, including Rock That Doesn’t Roll, a narrative show about the Christian music industry and Sound Opinions, also heard on 150 public radio stations nationwide.

Work

01

Rock That Doesn’t Roll

I created, produce and co-host this show about the history and cultural impact of Christian pop music. I received a grant from PRX’s Big Questions Project to make the first two seasons of this show.

02

Library For The People

I was the showrunner and senior producer of this limited-run series celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Chicago Public Library. The show was hosted by Alison Cuddy and was a collaboration between the Chicago Public Library and PRX.

03

1,800 Days

I was senior producer of this limited-run series on the history of early childhood development. The show was hosted by Natalie Moore and was a collaboration between the Erikson Institute and PRX.

04

In Search Of

I provide post-production support for this podcast from The Christian Century. This sample features Diana Butler Bass and Elizabeth Schrader Polczer in conversation with host Amy Frykholm.

My CV

I’ve worked as an audio producer, podcast host, video producer, photographer and columnist.

In addition, I’ve managed the workflow, editorial calendar and partnerships for Sound Opinions.

I’m based in Chicago, but available to work remotely for anyone.

05

The Secrets Hotline

I produced six episodes of this podcast spin-off of Love + Radio for Luminary. In addition to selecting calls to include from the hundreds received by the hotline, I also booked and produced celebrity interviews for each episode.

06

Love + Radio

I produced this interview with Glynn Washington of Snap Judgment. The topic was supposed to be the restrictive religious group he was raised in, but he went deeper than we’d expected.

07

Sound Opinions

I interviewed DJ Shadow and produced this segment for Sound Opinions. He explains how he found the sample for his single “Rocket Fuel.”

08

Curious City

I reported this story for WBEZ’s Curious City project, where listeners submit questions and journalists answer them.

09

Classic Album Dissection

I produced this deep dive into Fugazi’s 1990 album, Repeater, for Sound Opinions. It includes archival materials and an interview with punk legend Ian MacKaye.

10

Hooked On Sonics

I interviewed David Bazan and produced this segment for Sound Opinions about the song that led him to pursue a career in music.

11

Save Our Stages

I wrote and produced this news report for Sound Opinions on the effort to save music venues from finanical ruin during the coronavirus shutdown, which included booking interviews with Senators Amy Klobuchar and Chuck Schumer.

12

Keep Away Corona

In the early days of the coronavirus pandemic, my kid wanted to make his own podcast so I produced this with him serving as executive producer.
